About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Carrollton, Texas, Palm India Restaurant is a culinary gem for lovers of authentic Indian cuisine, with a special emphasis on South Indian and North Indian flavors. This vibrant eatery offers a rich tapestry of tastes that transport diners straight to the coastal state of Kerala, known for its aromatic spices and homestyle cooking.

Walking into Palm India, you feel the warmth of a home away from home, albeit with a dining atmosphere that leans more toward casual and comforting rather than formal. The setting might not boast the polish of a traditional upscale restaurant, but what it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for with a genuine spirit and a lively community vibe—often bustling with locals grabbing takeout or savoring quick meals. The friendly staff and the welcoming presence of owner Salim Bhai add a deeply personal touch, reminding you that this is a place built on passion and authenticity rather than just business.

At the heart of Palm India’s menu lies an impressive array of dishes that showcase the diversity and depth of Indian culinary traditions. From the richly spiced Beef Roast and tender Mutton Curry to the fluffy layers of Porotta perfectly paired with fiery Beef Fry, each bite is a celebration of balanced flavors and expert preparation. Seafood lovers can indulge in delights such as King Fish Curry, Shrimp Mango Curry, and the indulgent Crab Roast, all embodying the fresh and robust tastes of Kerala’s coast.

Vegetarian options hold equal importance here, with dishes like creamy Veg Kurma, subtly spiced Aviyal, and tangy Beetroot Pachadi providing a showcase of plant-based Indian cuisine that’s as vibrant in color as it is in flavor. The South Indian staples, including the generous South India Thali and the festive Onam Sadhya, are highlights that offer an immersive dining experience reflective of Kerala’s rich food culture.

The menu further dazzles with crowd favorites like Chicken 65, savory Mattar Paneer Tikka, and aromatic biryanis such as the Thalsseri Mutton Biryani and Kappa Biriyani, which consistently impress patrons with their fragrant spices and tender meat. Not to be missed are the delightful snacks like the crispy, sweet Pazham Pori and the delicate, thin rice crepes called Pathiri, which offer a perfect start or end to any meal.

Patrons frequently rave about the authenticity of Palm India’s offerings. As one thrilled customer, Jasir Sabri, shares, the restaurant delivers “all the Kerala vibes right here in Texas,” from the chaya to the biryani, making it a rare treat for those craving a genuine taste of home. Another review emphasizes the freshness and generosity of their naan and tikka masala, echoing the consensus that the food’s quality and flavor truly stand out.

While the ambiance might not capture the traditional polished dining experience—with curtains and simple dividers shaping the space—it instead fosters an atmosphere of warmth and sincerity, ideal for those who prioritize authentic food over fancy settings. Whether you find yourself grabbing a quick takeout meal or settling in for a casual feast with friends, Palm India Restaurant delivers not just food but a heartfelt connection to Indian culinary heritage.

In sum, Palm India is a must-visit for anyone in the Dallas area seeking genuine South Indian and North Indian cuisine that bursts with flavor and soul. It’s a place where every dish tells a story, inviting you to explore the rich culinary traditions of Kerala without leaving Texas.

I’ve had food catered to my house and church events from this place ever since they opened. They’ve never failed me as their Kerala food authenticity is very high. We even go there, grab a curry, or thoran, on a given day my wife was unable to cook . However, having a ‘dine in’ there was not on my bucket list. The ambience is not like that of a regular restaurant. So many people lining up to pick up food and eating in a crowded area is not my cup of tea. However, even though the ambience remains the same, the food ‘outsmarted’ my other pet peeves. We had a vegetarian meal and a non- vegetarian meal along with a special Mackerel fry and Indian tea. All together, $40.00 for Sunday brunch for two people. This is typical ‘Kerala’ food. And we enjoyed it…

Honestly, I never expected to find a place like this in the U.S.! I was on a business trip in Dallas and dropped by with a few friends and wow, what an experience! They’ve got fantastic chaya, pazham pori, amazing biryani, and porotta with beef. All the Kerala vibes right here in Texas! The owner, Salim Bhai, is such a warm and genuine person — made us feel totally at home.

The music and food fit the place well, but it’s not really a professional dine-in setup — there are sheets and house curtains used as door dividers. The food was good though, and you definitely get your money’s worth. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the spot feels more like it’s made for takeout than for eating in.

I really enjoy Palm India for its authentic Kerala flavors here in DFW. The food is flavorful and truly reminds you of home cooking — the porotta with beef roast is one of my favorites, and the biryani is always fragrant and filling. What makes this place even more special is that they serve the traditional Onam Sadya meal for 3 days every year. Getting a full banana leaf meal with all the classics like avial, olan, sambar, pachadi, thoran, pappadam, chips, and payasam outside India is such a treat and makes the festival feel complete. The restaurant itself is simple and casual, nothing too fancy, but the food speaks for itself. Service can sometimes be a bit slow, but the staff is always polite and the portions are generous. If you’re looking for real Kerala-style cooking in Dallas, Palm India is definitely worth a visit.
